Eye Surgicenter |

This
center was launched last February 2003. Managed
by PSH, it is equipped with sophisticated
operating microscopes and phaco machines capable
of handling complex cases like hypermature
and complicated cataracts, vitrectomy with
endolaser, glaucoma and refractive surgery
and many others, on an out-patient basis.
Should the need arise, major cases like trauma,
pediatric and cancer surgery can be done in
the major O.R. of PSH. This center is located
at the 6th floor of the SPC Medical Specialty
Centre. |

Hemophilia
Center |

It
is a satellite branch of the National Hemophilia
Center of the Philippines. It was founded on April
2003 mainly to assist in the diagnosis and treatment
of patients who are afflicted with blood clotting
disorders in the Visayas and Mindanao. |

Colposcopy
and Dysplasia Unit
Started
on July 2003, this unit specializes in the
evaluation and management of general gynecologic
diseases and malignancies. Colposcopy can
aid the early detection and treatment of
cervical cancer, one of the most common
malignancies affecting women today. This
unit can be found at the 5th floor of the
SPC Medical Specialty Centre.

Cebu
Urologic Institute

Established
on October 2003, the institute is a venue
for both technological and humane endeavor
wherein it provides an opportunity for a
group of young qualified Urologists, utilizing
the resources provided for them in a "caring"
environment. It involves various approaches
from diagnosis to convalescence, utilizes
sophisticated equipment, and new innovative
technology to cater to the needs of patients
in the Visayas and Mindanao Region. One
may find this center at the 8th floor of
the SPC Medical Specialty Centre.

Diabetes Education and Nutrition Center |

Launched
last November 2003, this center is your one-stop-shop
for diabetes education and nutrition. Diabetes
educators and dietitians are always on hand
for one-on-one comprehensive teaching for
the diabetic individual and his family. Services
offered include dietary counseling, diabetes
education for home blood glucose monitoring,
self-injection of insulin, proper foot care
and weight management. This center is located
at the 7th floor of the SPC Medical Specialty
Centre. |

Neuroscience Center
|
Opened
in September 2004, the center is immediately
accessible to Neuro-sub specialists, this
one-stop-shop includes the following services.
Electro-encephalogram (EMG) useful in the
evaluation of seizures, headache, migraine,
memory loss, speech delay, behavioral change,
attention deficit, mental deficiency, involuntary
movements, slow learners and other neurologic
and psychiatric disorders. With cutting-edge
equipment and facilities coupled with the
presence of expert Neurologist, the other
distinct services they offer are the following:
adult and pediatric neurology clinic, psychiatry
clinic, memory clinic, stroke, epilepsy, movement
disorder clinic and evaluation of other neuropsychiatric
problems. This center is located at the 7th

Opened in January 2003, it is a multi-subspecialty
referral center for complicated eye cases. Respected
experts work together to provide both new and referred
patients with highly specialized eye-care services.
In one visit, patients can be immediately referred
to a sub-specialist within the group for a second
opinion and management. It utilizes the latest technology
like the Heidelberg Retina Tomograph, which can
detect glaucoma progression and the OCTOPUS 311
state-of-the-art perimeter. Once diagnosed, patients
have the option to undergo immediate treatment using
high-tech equipment like the Frequency Yag, the
Diode and the Excimer Lasers. One may find ACES

DOTS
- PPMD (DIRECTLY OBSERVED TREATMENT
SHORTCOURSE)
Launched
on April 25, 2007, the Public-Private Mix DOTS (PPMD)
Unit in PSH is an aggressive partnership with the
Department of Health in fighting against Tuberculosis.
The strategy called Directly Observed Treatment
Shortcourse therapy (DOTS) is the effective way
of monitoring the progress of TB patients by ensuring
that they diligently take their medicines. Ultimately,
the PSH-PPMD Unit aims to prevent the recurrence
of the disease among its patients. Best of all,
it's free. |
